HEIRLOOM - a valuable object that has belonged to a family for several generations…

There is no exact definition of “heirloom” but consideration is made for age as a determining factor in the “heirloom” designation. Generally considered heirloom is to be no younger than 60 years old to qualify. Or put another way, for the United States, it is an apple variety usually from the 1800’s to about the 1970’s. 70’s to current is considered a “modern” variety.
